1. Complete and submit the online OSAP application
2. Print off the signature forms as required and make sure that all signatures are included on the forms
3. Attach any other required documentation to the signature forms
4. Upload your completed signature forms and any supporting documentation directly to your OSAP account
We strongly recommend you scan and upload your OSAP signature pages and supporting document through your online OSAP account. This way you can reduce your application processing time and have access to view your uploaded documents and the status of your submission online.
How to Upload Your Documents
- Log into your OSAP account and go to your OSAP application (full-time or part-time).
- Under your application, click Print or upload documents. This will take you to your Required Documents (print/upload) page.
- Click Open form to open the document for printing. You will be asked to enter a password to view the document. Copy the form password provided, and paste it into the password box.
- Click Save if you wish to save the document to your computer and print later. Use the form password to access the document again. Do not use your OSAP login password.
- Print and complete the document using dark blue or black ink. Ensure each page is legible and upload. You can check your Uploaded documents page to ensure your scanned document was successfully uploaded.
Guidelines to Scanning Signature Pages/Supporting Documentation
- Scan each required document separately.
- Save each document in PDF format.
- Scan documents in black and white.
- Scan documents at a resolution of 150 or 200 dpi (dots per inch).
- Uploads larger than 2 MB in size are inadmissible. (The exception is declaration and signature pages, which can be up to 5 MB).
Scan at Home Using Your Mobile Phone
- Go to your App Store or use the links below to download Adobe Scan on your mobile phone (Apple users, Android users).
- Register for a free account.
- Aim your device’s camera at the document you wish to scan and click Save to PDF.
- Select Share File and send the PDF to your email. From your email inbox, save the PDF to your device.
- Upload the saved PDF to your OSAP application.

5. Submit your MSFAA
What is the MSFAA?
The Master Student Financial Assistance Agreement (MSFAA) is a legal agreement between you and the federal and Ontario governments. It outlines your responsibilities and the terms and conditions of accepting and repaying student loans. This loan agreement is an important document so make sure you keep a copy of it for future reference. It remains valid during your full-time post-secondary studies, unless there is a break of two years or more in your studies. If so, the MSFAA will be listed as a required document in your OSAP application.
How to Submit Your Online MSFAA for OSAP
OSAP applicants can complete and submit their MSFAA online.
- Reduced processing time
- Greater visibility to status of application
- Completed online
- Date of birth
- Social Insurance Number (SIN)
- MSFAA number (Provided in your OSAP account after your OSAP application has been processed OR in paper notice, if you requested paper communication on your OSAP profile)
- Bank account information: Institution Number, Transit Number and Account Number (Ask your bank for your direct deposit form or find the numbers on your cheque.)
Register for an online account with the National Student Loans Service Centre (NSLSC) and complete the online MSFAA to:
- Receive funds
- Track loan and grant status
- Receive important updates
- Update your contact and banking information
1. Submit your OSAP application
Submit your OSAP application to receive your MSFAA number. Your Required Documents page will display your 10-digit MSFAA number and the date you can expect a welcome email from the NSLSC. Begin the registration process only when you have received the welcome email (sent 2-3 days after OSAP application submission).

Choose from one of two options to register your NSLSC account:
Option 1: (if you use one of the Sign-in Partners listed in the image below for online banking)
Temporarily leave the NSLSC website by clicking Continue to Sign-In Partner and enter the log-in you use during online banking.
Option 2: (if you do not use a Sign-in Partner listed for online banking)
Temporarily leave the NSLSC website by clicking Continue to GCKEY. If you have not previously made a GC Key, click Sign Up and register.
4. Return to the NSLSC website
Click Continue to return to the NSLSC website and input your:
- Personal and contact information
- Communication preferences
- Banking information
5. Submit and review
Read and accept the MSFAA terms and conditions.
You can review your MSFAA on your OSAP account. Go to your Applications page and under More information click on Consents and agreements.

York University scholarships, awards and bursaries
Undergraduate students — All funding (scholarships, bursaries and awards, etc.) received by the University will be reported to OSAP and may have an impact on your OSAP entitlement. York University regularly provides updated funding information to the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities so undergraduate students are not required to report these awards themselves. Students who are employed in Work/Study positions (Work/Study, RAY, CLAY or YES) are required to report this income on their OSAP applications.
Graduate students — Graduate students are required to report their funding package on their OSAP application as income. As students are not typically aware of how the funding will be broken down at the time in which they are applying for OSAP, it is recommended that students report the Fall and/or Winter value of the funding package (or summer portion for Summer applicants) under the Scholarships, Bursaries and Awards field in the OSAP application. All other York funding (received outside of the funding package) must be reported to OSAP unless you have received notification from York in writing that they will report the award to OSAP directly.
External scholarships, awards and bursaries
OSAP recipients (graduate and undergraduate) must report all funding (scholarships, awards bursaries) received from agencies external to York University and not processed through York University.
We recommend applying for OSAP aid as soon as possible, but you can still apply for OSAP after starting your classes. The application deadlines depend on the session.
Submit your application no later than 60 days before the end of the study period.
Submit your supporting documentation no later than 40 days before the end of your study period.
Summer session eligibility
Undergraduate students must enrol in their summer session courses before submitting an OSAP aid application for the summer session.
