We understand that students have questions about the recently announced changes to OSAP. Visit our FAQs for the latest information.
To extend your full-time OSAP application for an additional term, you must:
- Have already received full-time OSAP funding for the current Fall and/or Winter terms
- Enrol in courses or, for graduate students, register as active, before proceeding with this extension application
- Be enrolled in a full-time course load for the applicable term
FAQs Summer OSAP extension application
There was an issue with the application that was fixed as of April 4th, you should now be able to submit a new application.
If you start a new application after April 4th and see the message, "you are not eligible to apply for the extended term you selected," please contact Student Support and Advising for assistance.
Please note: Students who require an extension of their full‑time OSAP funding for the summer term must have an existing OSAP application that was confirmed for the Fall and/or Winter term of the current academic year.
As long as you have submitted an application, which will appear as 1 Under Review Application in the Government Aid Applications in your student portal in the Financial Aid, Awards and Scholarships application, then your request will get reviewed. Additional applications that are not Under Review (such as left in Draft status) will be archived, you do not need to take any action.
If you dropped from full-time studies early in your Fall and/or Winter terms, your full-time OSAP application will likely have a calculated overpayment of funds issued to you. This will be deducted from what you receive for the extended term. You may receive little or no OSAP funding.
Summer Application Deadlines
| Term Length | DEADLINE TO SUBMIT A SUMMER OSAP APPLICATION FOR CONTINUING STUDENTS |
|---|---|
| 12 weeks or more |
40 days before the study period end-date is the application deadline for students who applied for and received full-time OSAP funding in the Fall/Winter 2025-2026 session (Example: July 4, 2026 is the deadline to apply for a study period ending on August 13, 2026).
60 days before the study period end-date is the application deadline for students who did not receive full-time OSAP funding in the Fall/Winter 2025-2026 session (Example: June 14, 2026 is the deadline to apply for a study period ending on August 13, 2026). |
| 11 weeks or less | 21 days (three weeks) before the first day of your summer classes is the application deadline for students who applied for and received full-time OSAP funding in the Fall/Winter 2025-2026 session. |
Applications must be received by these deadlines or your OSAP assessment and aid will be delayed, or it may be too late to process the application.
If you have submitted your Fall/Winter 2025-2026 OSAP application with the required documents and do not receive your funding by the payment due date of May 10, late fees will not be charged on the outstanding balance for one month (May only).
Before Applying
Before you can apply for OSAP:
- You must know whether you are considered a full-time student or a part-time student for OSAP purposes during the summer session. This determines which OSAP application you should submit.
For undergraduate students, this is determined by the number of credits you are enrolled in, the number of study weeks (including exams) for your summer term, and if you have self-identified as a student with a disability on your OSAP profile.
For graduate students, this is determined by your activity level for the summer session. Contact your program office if you are not sure about your activity level.
- Undergraduate and Graduate students must be enrolled in their summer session before submitting an OSAP aid application.

Application Processing Timelines
- Processing usually takes four to six weeks from the date you submit your summer OSAP application. Documents are reviewed and assessed in the order they are received.
- Processing can take longer if your application has incorrect/incomplete details or supporting documents. Therefore, it is very important that you submit an accurate and complete application. If you check your status on the OSAP website six weeks after applying and still see no indication of a summer assessment, then please contact Student Support and Advising to see if there are problems with your application.
- Because the summer session is short, your time to access summer OSAP funding is very limited. We recommend you apply early to ensure your funding is assessed and issued. OSAP will not issue any funds for students who did not submit the correct OSAP application and all required documents prior to the applicable submission deadline.
