OSAP important dates

Please keep your eye on these important OSAP dates.

Adhering to these dates will help you meet the application requirements in a timely manner, and help York and OSAP provide you with your funds when you need them.

Fall/Winter 2018-2019 Session

Step 1.
Check Your Eligibility

You can begin checking your eligibility any time.
Step 2.
Apply Online and Submit Documents
FALL 2018 TERM ONLY APPLICATION


June 30
- Recommended date to submit your Fall only application and all required documents to receive your funds at the beginning of the fall term.

October 16 - Deadline to apply for Fall OSAP only. The actual application deadline may differ based on your study period end date. Please check the OSAP web page for the application deadline.

November 3 - Last day to submit all supporting documentation and requests for review. The actual submission deadline may differ based on your study period end date. Please check the OSAP web page for the supporting documents deadline.

FALL/WINTER 2018-2019 APPLICATION


June 30
- Recommended date to submit your Fall/Winter application, and all required documents to receive your funds at the beginning of the fall term.

February 19 - Last day to apply for Fall/Winter OSAP. The actual application deadline may differ based on your study period end date. Please check the OSAP web page for the application deadline.

February 28 - Last day to submit all supporting documentation and requests for review. The actual deadline may differ based on your study period end date. Please check the OSAP web page for the supporting documents deadline.

WINTER 2019 TERM ONLY APPLICATION


October 31
- Recommended date to submit your Winter only application, and all required documents to receive your funds at the beginning of the Winter term.

February 19 - Last day to apply for Winter OSAP only. The actual application deadline may differ based on your study period end date. Please check the OSAP web page for the application deadline.

February 28 - Last day to submit all supporting documentation and requests for review. The actual deadline may differ based on your study period end date. Please check the OSAP web page for the supporting documents deadline.

Step 3.
Check the list of Required Documents

If you have uploaded your supporting documents through your OSAP web account, processing time is one to six weeks. Please check your OSAP status for updates.

If you have submitted your supporting documents through the OSAP drop box or by mail, processing time is one to eight weeks. Please check the Financial Document Tracker and your OSAP status for updates.

Step 4.
Submit Your MFSAA
(for first-time applicants only)

Submit your Master Student Financial Assistance Agreement (MSFAA) at one of the designated Canada Post Outlets, after completing your OSAP application. You can submit your MSFAA at INK BLOTS located inside York Lanes. Check the Canada Post Outlet page for a complete list of designated Canada post offices.

Step 5.
Check Your Status

September 1 - York begins to confirm your registration status.

December 14 - York begins to confirm registration status for the OSAP second instalment.

Step 6.
Receive Your Funds

September 10 - Once your registration is confirmed, the National Student Loans Service Centre begins to electronically release OSAP first instalments.

January 3 - Once your registration is confirmed, the National Student Loans Service Centre begins to electronically release OSAP second instalments.

Step 7.
Report Changes
Report all changes to your OSAP application promptly. This includes changes to income and your course load.
Step 8.
Repay or Maintain Interest-Free Status
(if leaving school)

Repayment will start six month after completing your full-time studies.

If you are returning to full-time studies and will not be applying for OSAP, submit a Continuation of Interest-free status through your OSAP web account to ensure your previous loans do not enter repayment. Check the application deadline on the OSAP web page.

Summer 2018 Session

March 8 - summer OSAP application for full-time continuing students is available

June 22 - summer OSAP application deadline for Schulich graduate students

May 31 - summer application deadline for Bursary for Students with a Disability

June 12 - summer OSAP online Ministry application deadline for students who will end their Summer 2018 study period on August 10 and who did not apply for full-time OSAP funding in the Fall/Winter 2018-2019 session

July 14 - summer OSAP application deadline for students who will end their Summer 2018 study period on August 31 and who applied for full-time OSAP funding in the Fall/Winter 2017-2018 session
except for: June 22, 2018 for graduate students in the Schulich School of Business

Step 3.
Check the Financial Document Tracker

Step 4.

Receive Your Funds
May 8 - Summer OSAP funds begin to be disbursed
Step 7.
Report Changes
